Rest in peace, Miss Richardson...
Mar. 21st, 2009 11:00 pmSince news of this fantastic actress's unexpected and shocking death at the age of only 45 from a bizarre and freak skiing accident has covered the news headlines recently, I just thought I would write a few words about her since I've known about her for quite a while.
For those who aren't familiar with her, you might remember her probably from 'Maid in Manhattan' but I always remember her in the film Blow Dry with Alan Rickman and of course, as Violet Hunter in The Copper Beeches from the Granada TV series, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. If those films are all unfamiliar, then she's best known as the wife of Liam Neeson, who I feel utterly sorry for and also for their two sons who have lost their mother in almost a blink of an eye in their young lives. It's sadly ironic that one of Neeson's recent roles included being a widower dealing with his young son and his wife's death in Love Actually...I just hope that all turns out well for him and his family as it did in the film.
It's frightening how life can disappear within an instant...one minute you might believe that the people around you will always be there for you and that their leaving you will be far in the future. I first read of Natasha Richardson's accident on Wednesday night and thought that although her condition was stated to be critical, I hoped she would pull through. The next day however, all hope was gone: it was chilling to read the headline: Natasha Richardson: 1963-2009 when you knew that only hours ago she was alive. It just shows perhaps that you've got to treasure each and every moment you have with the ones you love and care about the most because you simply never know if tomorrow will be your last day.
