OMG...I think I'm seriously thinking about getting vocal lessons now...and focusing on opera songs, etc?

Am I crazy? I CAN sing but not in the way that is required for opera-related stuff? OTZ (Yes, you can blame my TA/opera obsession for this XD)

And the funny thing is that my mum is strangely enthusiastic about this idea...

Gah...I stopped a while ago due to lack of time. =( So I now wonder where exactly I should place my musical needs, in singing, the piano (which I would love to learn how to play properly since I can never get my two hands to work together (clever as I am, the skill to play two different melodies at the same time eludes me...-___-)?

All I'm good at playing is the recorder, lol.

=( i suggest that you focus on one first Christy, i'm sure you know this too. Piano would take alot of time too just like cello so maybe singing would be better with your schedule? At least for singing you can just do it wherever you are, in the shower, when you're studying etc. XD

gah you do know that i don't like the recorder right? =p and pish-posh that won't be the only thing you'll be good at, you have plenty of time to improve your cello playing and other instruments and skills that you would devote your time to doing in the near future (well now) =)

You don't like the recorder? I didn't know that. *makes mental note of not playing the recorder near you in future* XD Ah, well...one learns a new thing everyday, eh?

Yeah, singing...you can do it almost anywhere XD though methinks ppl will think me bonkers if I start blurting out a song in an impromptu moment. (I do not want to become like Gabriel from SIS...-___-)

i don't think the recorder should even be put onto the same category as other classical instruments. To me the recorder has this "plastic" sound to it so that's why i don't like it. I've switched to tin whistle for a long time now...haven't played my recorder in a very long long time.

LOL i doubt you'd even grow the habit of being like Gabriel anyways =p

Lol, what a harsh comment about the status of the recorder in relation to the classical instruments. XD ...I did read somewhere that they were favourite instruments during the Baroque period with ppl like Bach, Handel, etc. But those were the days when they had ones made out of real wood. But yeah, they are mostly related to those horrible white plastic recorders one plays at primary school...which really and literally do produce "plastic" sounds. *shudders* It's even worse/,ore notable when a group of ppl playing them play at the same time.

But I did buy a more expensive recorder a few years back (which is designed to look like wood) and when I play it nowadays it doesn't create too much of a plastic sound though. =o
